Breaking Barriers and Making History!

Bianca Taylor is the incredible Australian Apprentice who became South Australia’s first female stonemason when she was 16.

After discovering her passion for stonemasonry at a very young age, she secured a rare apprenticeship. Over the following four years, she lent her skills to prestigious projects such as the historic restoration of Adelaide Railway Station and the redevelopment of the old Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Her journey doesn’t stop there! This year, Bianca had the incredible opportunity to work alongside master-masons at Exeter Cathedral in England as part of the Cathedrals’ Workshop Fellowship.

“With an apprenticeship and her own business, Taylor Made Heritage Restoration, Bianca is set to make lasting contributions to South Australian heritage while inspiring future generations, promoting sustainable industry practices, and preserving South Australia’s rich architectural history,” said the South Australian Skills Comission.

As the Principal Sponsor of the 2024 South Australian Training Awards, our SA State Manager Kara Prichard had the honour of presenting Bianca with the Apprentice of the Year Award.

Congratulations, Bianca! We can’t wait to see you shine even brighter as you represent SA at the Australian Training Awards in December. ✨
