Last year, we proudly shared one of the greatest stories from one of our Apprentices, who is now an employer, counting on our support to help his business grow.
Amir Ansari came to Australia as a refugee and spent two years on Christmas Island. He had extensive experience as an electrician, but couldn’t qualify for Recognition of Prior Learning.
Amir didn’t give up on his career and started an Electrical Apprenticeship in 2018, signing up with Mas.
Despite living and working in Melbourne, Amir travelled a distance of 70km to Gordon TAFE in Geelong for four years to fulfil his Regional Study requirements as per his Visa conditions.
In 2022, Amir completed his Apprenticeship and went on to pursue additional training, obtaining licences in Air-conditioning and Solar Batteries.
This led him to establish his own business, and within seven months, he hired his first Apprentice, Mehrdad. Shortly after, he sought our support in signing up his second Apprentice, Youssef.
Recently, 9 News interviewed Amir and Mas National CEO John Glass to delve deeper into this incredible story.
