This year’s NAIDOC Week celebrates 50 Years of Deadly, recognising five decades of celebrating the history, culture, achievements and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
It is also a great reminder that every generation helps shape the future. Whether you are just starting your apprenticeship or are well into your training, every skill you learn, every challenge you overcome and every connection you make is part of building your own legacy.
Mentor Tip: Be the apprentice everyone wants to teach
The apprentices who learn the fastest are not usually the ones who know the most. They are the ones who:
• Turn up ready to learn
• Ask good questions
• Listen when someone shares their experience
• Say thank you when someone takes the time to teach them
People are always more willing to share their knowledge with someone who is eager to learn.
